Orthopaedic Nurse

Qualifications:

  • RVN

Amber started her journey at Highcroft Veterinary Group in March 2015, leaving practice once a week to attend college. She qualified in 2018 and continued to work for the first opinion practice, rotating around the hospital, and clinical coaching. Amber moved to a referral hospital in Bristol for a short while, working in theatre and the surgical ward. In May 2023 Amber returned to Highcroft Referrals / Bristol Vet Specialists, as an orthopaedic RVN, to continue caring for surgical cases in a brand new hospital.

She finds nursing the dogs in the ward whilst they are recovering in the hospital very rewarding, although she does enjoy the variety of being involved with sedations for orthopaedic procedures and imaging alongside this. The continuity of seeing the patients for their first referral imaging, to their surgical aftercare, and re checks is great.

Amber is hoping to undertake a certificate in surgical nursing in the near future, to further develop her knowledge and ensure the vets standard of patient care to the patients.
