Jon graduated from the University of Bristol in 2013. After a short period working overseas, he returned to the UK and spent 18 months in mixed practice before completing a one-year rotating internship in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery between 2015 and 2016.
He then developed a strong interest in research and completed a PhD in Regenerative Medicine and Neuroscience at the University of Bristol in 2019. His research focused on modified olfactory ensheathing cell transplantation as a potential treatment for spinal cord injury. Following his PhD, he took up a postdoctoral position at the Royal Veterinary College, where he worked on the development of an intelligent neuroprosthesis to help manage urinary incontinence after spinal cord injury.
In July 2022, Jon returned to full-time clinical work to begin a residency in Neurology at Highcroft Referrals (now Bristol Vet Specialists). He became a Diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Neurology in 2026.
