Originally from Sofia, Bulgaria, Savina qualified as a Veterinary Surgeon at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), Spain in 2014. After two years working in general practice, she developed a strong interest in ophthalmology. She initially undertook a general rotating internship at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital of UAB, and completed a post-graduate course in veterinary ophthalmology.
From September 2017 to August 2020, Savina completed an ECVO residency program in veterinary comparative ophthalmology at UAB and became ECVO diplomate after passing her boards in September 2021. After the successful completion of her training, she moved permanently to the United Kingdom where she has worked in multi-disciplinary referral hospitals with amazing colleagues who have contributed further to her professional and personal development.
Her areas of interest include corneal surgery and feline intraocular neoplastic and non-neoplastic conditions. She also has a university degree in English Studies from the University of Barcelona, Spain in 2015.
